Do you like cross-country skiing? The Karkonosze Mountains are a real paradise for lovers of cross-country skiing! There are many routes for practicing this sport in Szklarska Poręba and Jakuszyce (Szklarska Poręba district), Karpacz, Sobieszewo and Przesieka. Tourists on the Czech side of the Giant Mountains will also find something for themselves. Here are the most popular routes for those who love winter cross-country skiing!
Cross-country skiing trails in Szklarska Poręba:
- The Czarny Kamień route (start at Polana Maliszewskiego, finish at the Izer Granit mine) - a route for beginners, perfect for the beginning of an adventure with cross-country skiing, and even for a walk with children. It runs along the Kamienna River, at a later stage it meets another cross-country trail - PKO BP.
- PKO BP route - a cross-country trail for beginners. It starts in the Jakuszycka Clearing and leads to the Crossroads under the Jizera Department.
- Inhalation routes A, B, C, D PZU Życie - several routes of varying difficulty (A - simple, B - easy, C - interesting, D - difficult, requiring downhill skills). The beginning of each route - Crossroads near the Jizera Department.
- Trasa Koziniec (start Crossroads under the Izerski Department, finish line Przy Graniczniku) - a cross-country route for intermediate runners, also known as the Day Signals Route.
- Krogulec route (start Rozdroże Miedziane, finish the so-called Airplane) - for intermediate skiers, a beautiful route with views of the Jizera Mountains.
- Marszałkowska Route (start at Polana Jakuszycka, finish at Łąka Maliszewski) - an easy route for beginners.
- The Route of Radio Jedynki (start and finish line of Polana Jakuszycka) - route for beginners, you can encounter dog sleds there.
Cross-country skiing trails in Karpacz:
- Równia pod Śnieżką - the route of the Karkonosze National Park. The route begins at the top station of the Kopa railway. Further on, the trail leads to the Dom Śląski shelter, Spalonej Strażnicy, the next points are Pod Małym Szyszakiem and the Czech shelter Lucni Bouda. A beautiful route with fantastic views. Length: about 13 km.
- The route at OW Stokrotka - a 2.5 km long looped track, start: ul. Karkonoska 55.
- Chomontowa Road - a 5.5 km long running route, many beautiful viewpoints and interesting rock formations. Start: ul. Karkonosze.
Other cross-country skiing routes in the Giant Mountains:
- Cross-country skiing routes under Chojnik (Sobieszów, start at Bronka Czecha street) - 4 different routes for cross-country skiers. Walking trail - 4 km, trail with ascents and descents - 1.5 km, trail for children - 500 m, on the school pitch - 400 m.
- Cross-country trail in Przesieka (start at Dolina Czerwia, the finish line 200 meters below the Sudecka Road on Przesieka), a two-way, scenic route, ideal for the classic style.
- Cross-country trails in Kowary - several different routes along forest roads on the slopes of Góra Wołowa and Czoła, routes of various difficulty levels.
- Routes in the Czech Krkonoše Mountains - on the other side of the border you will find 500 kilometers of high-quality cross-country trails. It is worth paying attention in particular to the longest (71 km) and most popular route, known as the Krkonoše Highway (Krkonošská Magistrála or Krkonošská Lyžařská Cesta).
