Skalny Stół is one of the peaks forming the Kowarski Ridge. Like the neighboring elevations, this peak also marks the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. Nearby is the Siodło Pass, and beyond it the peak called Czoło. To the west stretches Sowia Pass and Czarny Ridge – this is where the main ridge of the Karkonosze begins.

It is worth hiking to the summit of Skalny Stół, reaching an altitude of 1281 meters above sea level, even though it is not the highest in the Karkonosze and is located somewhat off the beaten path. The effort will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the Jelenia Góra Valley. From here, you can also see the Queen of the Sudetes – Śnieżka, and the magnificent panorama extends all the way to the Kaczawskie Mountains.

There are several ways to reach Skalny Stół and enjoy the beautiful views. From Okraj Pass, a blue trail leads here – experienced hikers can continue along it towards Śnieżka. From Kowary, there is a yellow trail passing through the now-nonexistent settlement of Budniki. Budniki can also be reached from Karpacz – in this case, you should take the green trail, which leads through Szeroki Most and the so-called Tabaczana Path, an old smuggling route formerly used to smuggle tobacco from Austria to Prussia.
