Mały Szyszak rises to an altitude of 1440 m above sea level. The border between Poland and the Czech Republic runs here. In the immediate vicinity is Tępy Szczyt to the east, and Przełęcz Karkonoska to the west.

Although no tourist trail leads to the summit, hiking nearby you can admire the nature of Karkonosze National Park. The distinctive summit is covered with scree slopes, dominated by so-called Karkonosze granite. In the lower parts, the slope is covered with dense mountain pine.

Even lower you can take a deep breath in the resin-scented spruce forests, which provide true relief during summer hikes. In the Karkonosze forests, you can encounter, among others, red deer, roe deer, or fox. A zoological curiosity is the mouflon, originally from Corsica, introduced to Karkonosze over a hundred years ago by the Schaffgotsch family.

From Mały Szyszak, it is not far to the interesting village of Przesieka. It is also a good starting point for a hike to the summit. From Przesieka, follow the blue trail towards Przełęcz Karkonoska, then the red trail, the Main Sudeten Trail. Of course, it is also possible to reach from the east by hiking the red trail from Tępy Szczyt.

Tired hikers, after admiring the majesty of Mały Szyszak, can rest at the Odrodzenie Shelter. In Przesieka, there is also the Podgórna Waterfall, one of the most interesting and picturesque waterfalls in Karkonosze – the only one where you can bathe!
