Chojnik Castle is a picturesque and most frequently visited hiking trail in the vicinity of Jelenia Góra. Built on the edge of a 150-meter cliff overlooking the Piekielna Valley, it was once a true fortress that was never conquered.

Legend has it that the Castle gained a bad reputation. This was all due to the beautiful but cruel Kunegunda, the daughter of a wealthy castellan. A worthy daughter of her father, she swore that she would give her hand only to the one who dared to ride around the castle walls on horseback. Unfortunately, many eager knights perished in the depths of the rocks of the Piekielna Valley. Years passed, and the beauty of the castle maiden faded with each day. One day, a mysterious young man appeared, who managed to fulfill Kunegunda's devilish condition. However, he came to the Castle to avenge all the unfortunate souls whose pride had cost them their lives. Enveloped in shame, Kunegunda threw herself into the abyss, where death had claimed many knights.
