Cross-country skiing in the Karkonosze

Do you like cross-country skiing? The Karkonosze Mountains are a true paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts! There are plenty of trails for this sport in Szklarska Poręba and Jakuszyce in the Izera Mountains (a district of Szklarska Poręba), Karpacz, Sobieszów, and Przesieka. Tourists on the Czech side of the Karkonosze will also find something for themselves. Here are the most popular routes for those who love winter madness on cross-country skis!

Cross-country ski trails in Szklarska Poręba:

• Czarny Kamień Trail (start at Polana Maliszewskiego, finish at the Izer Granit mine) – a trail for beginners, perfect for starting your adventure with cross-country skiing, or even for a walk with children. It runs along the Kamienna River and later meets another trail – PKO BP.
• PKO BP Trail – a cross-country trail for beginners. It starts at Polana Jakuszycka and leads to the Crossroads under the Izerski Division.
• PZU Życie Inhalation Trails A, B, C, D – several trails of varying difficulty (A – simple, B – easy, C – interesting, D – difficult, requiring downhill skills). The start of each trail is the Crossroads under the Izerski Division.
• Koziniec Trail (start at the Crossroads under the Izerski Division, finish at Przy Graniczniku) – a trail for intermediate skiers, also called the Day Signals Trail.
• Krogulec Trail (start at Miedziane Crossroads, finish at the so-called Samolot) – for intermediate skiers, a beautiful trail with views of the Izerskie Mountains.
• Marszałkowska Trail (start at Polana Jakuszycka, finish at Łąka Maliszewskiego) – an easy trail for beginners.
• Radio Jedynka Trail (start and finish at Polana Jakuszycka) – a trail for beginners where you can encounter dog sled teams.

Cross-country ski trails in Karpacz:

• Równia pod Śnieżką – a trail in the Karkonosze National Park. The trail begins at the upper station of the cable car to Kopa. The path then leads to the Dom Śląski shelter, the Burnt Guard Station, further points include Pod Małym Szyszakiem and the Czech shelter Lucni Bouda. A beautiful trail with fantastic views. Length: approx. 13 km.
• Trail near OW Stokrotka – a groomed 2.5 km loop, start: ul. Karkonoska 55.
• Chomontowa Road – a 5.5 km cross-country trail, featuring many beautiful viewpoints and interesting rock formations. Start: ul. Karkonoska.

Other cross-country trails in the Karkonosze:

• Trails under Chojnik (Sobieszów, start ul. Bronka Czecha) – 4 diverse trails for cross-country skiers. A walking trail – 4 km, trail with ascents and descents – 1.5 km, children's trail – 500 m, on the school playground – 400 m.
• Cross-country trail in Przesieka (start ul. Dolina Czerwienia, finish 200 meters below the Sudeten Road above Przesieka), a two-way scenic trail, perfect for classic style.
• Cross-country trails in Kowary – several different trails on forest roads on the slopes of Wołowa Mountain and Czoło, trails with varying difficulty levels.

Trails in the Czech Karkonosze – across the border, you will find 500 kilometers of excellent quality cross-country trails. It is worth paying special attention to the longest (71 km) and most popular trail known as the Karkonosze Magistrala (Krkonošská Magistrála or Krkonošská Lyžařská Cesta).
